Morning Commute With Mommy

Every morning Riley and I ride 15-30 minutes in the car to Hedy's house.  Most mornings I love being in the car during this time.  It's fun to listen to Riley talk and get excited about everything going on outside.  Here's a glimpse into our usual ride:

• We leave our house and wave bye to Daddy standing in the doorway.  Riley hugs her bunny, piggie, dolly, duck, or whatever she's got and begins to kick her legs. 
• Point out the water fountains and attempt to say the word several times.  It comes out something like: "wat-tan"
• Take off at least one shoe.
• Get onto the freeway.  Mommy puts her arm across to the other seat to block the sun out of Riley's eyes.  Sometimes we start the morning with sun glasses, but they soon fall to the floor.
• Point to every truck, bus, van and say "schoo bus" or "I see bus." Average number of times said each morning: 35
• Practice saying "Uh-oh spaghetti -o" - "uh-oh ske-ohh"
• Go under bridges and say "weee."  This usually gets a laugh out of Riley.
• Hand at least 3 toys back to Riley only to have them thrown on the floor.
• Hand Riley her milk.  Riley finishes her milk.  She hands it back to me (always).
• Point out any people or animals we see on the sidewalk.
• Recite words, letters, and sounds.  Sing a song or two.
• Turn onto Hedy's street.  Yell "Hedy!"  Point out the "side" (slide) and the jungle gym equipment at the school.
• Debate over which stuffed animal gets to go to Hedy's house and head inside!
